Wow, can't believe it's been over 6 months since I blogged. Yes, I did move. It took about two months to get completely unpacked, and another three months to get all the pictures on the walls, etc. I am loving the new place. I hope to update more often; we'll see how that goes! Later skaters, waiters and smelly cheese graters.

as you sleep

I watch you as you sleep –

You are no longer the baby I once rocked to sleep every night. The baby who giggled when I tickled your toes.

I watch you as you sleep -

You are no longer the toddler who listened as I told you stories - stories of the grandmother you will never know.

I watch you as you sleep –

You are no longer the little girl bringing me beautiful rocks and leaves - treasures from your heart.

I watch you as you sleep -

You are no longer the sensitive school girl who cried when your feelings were hurt. Who cried when others hurt your friends.

I watch you as you sleep -

You are no longer the frightened girl who faced the unknown at a new school, but charged boldly ahead and made wonderful new friends.

I watch you as you sleep -

You are now a beautiful young lady - one I am proud to say is my daughter. You have become a wonderful, caring, sensitive human being. I am proud of you.

I watch you as you sleep -

My arms want to reach out to hold you, hold you as I once did when you were little - when I could still protect you from all harm.

I watch you as you sleep -

I can no longer protect you, I can’t always be there. I must now trust that all you have learned over the years will help you through the decisions you must make in your life.

I watch you as you sleep -

I look to the heavens and say -- “dear God-I did the best job I knew how, I hope it was good enough. Take care of her”

I watch you as you sleep

I love you Abby.
