So - how was YOUR holiday Weekend?
1. Move home office out of the dining room into (newly vacated) spare room upstairs. This move required me to:
- Disassemble computer - not very difficult.
- Carry all computer components upstairs (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, all relevant wires) again, not too difficult
- Carry two file cabinets upstairs. A bit more difficult as they are heavy, so I had to empty their contents. Now there are four trips upstairs, not just two.
- Reassemble computer in its new office space - this is not difficult either, except:
- We need a desk. So, must get desk from the empty 'junk' room (yes, I have TWO spare bedrooms - one now an office, the other 'storage.') A task that may be a bit bulky, but shouldn't be too terribly difficult.
- Desk does not fit through door. (Ah - now I remember, it was purchased at Ikea and assembled in the room.) Disassemble said desk.
- Move desk-pieces from one room to the other.
- Reassemble desk. Task accomplished.
- Reassemble computer. Task accomplished.
2. Rearrange bedroom. I have not been sleeping well lately, I have decided that this might be influenced by the fact that I do the following 'non-bedroom-related' activities in there: eat, watch TV, surf the internet on my lap-top, pay bills. In an effort to make my room more sleep-friendly, I decided to remove all the non-bedroom-related artifacts from the room. So to that end:
- Move TV to newly created office. But, first, need a piece of furniture to put the TV on!
- So, we move the large dresser from junk room to office room. Now the TV can be easily moved. (and by "we" -- I mean "I")
- Reassemble all TV-related electronics. TiVo attaches to the VCR; DVD player attaches to the VCR; VCR attaches to the TV. Hmm, sound but no picture. Check wires -- oops -- it doesn't work if you attach the video out cable to the audio in connector!
- Move extraneous piece of furniture from master bedroom to spare room. (I know - you are thinking -- wouldn't it have been one less step to use this in the office -- but NOOOO -- I have to make things difficult!)
- Apparently it is bad feng shui to have the bed directly under a window. -- so my next step is to rotate bedroom furniture 90 degrees counterclockwise. Let me tell you, I have HEAVY bedroom furniture.
- Remove all computer-related stuff from bedroom. Laptop goes downstairs, misc software discs go to office, anything related to snacking goes to office. All books go to office. (New rule -- no reading in bed. If I want to read, watch TV or work on the computer, I go to the office.)
3. Put up my Christmas tree & decorations. I'll spare you the details. Let's just say, it is decorated and it looks very nice. But -- I can't find my Advent candles. Do you know, not a single store in my area has purple and pink candles! (I guess I should have tried the Christain bookstore, they probably have them.)
Are you ready for Christmas? I'm not -- but that is fodder for another post!
(every muscle in my body hurts!)
