My Earliest Memory
Memories are tinted by stories we hear from our parents and by the pictures that have captured those moments. Do I really remember that, or am I remembering a story told by my Grandparents? There are two distinct memories that I have that are not documented by pictures or by any story-telling.
One is when I was about 2 1/2 years old. I distinctly remember standing in front of our house crying because the kids I had been playing with were going home, and I was very sad that they could not stay and play. (They were older - about 7 or 8, but they would stop by and play with me every once in a while.)
The other distinct memory I have is my Mom bringing my sister home from the hospital. I was 4 years old and I remember being very excited about the new baby. I remember my mom walking in the back door of our house carrying the baby.
Memories are a very tricky thing - sometimes I wonder.
